Turacos were previously known as “Louries” in South Africa. Knysna Turacos are found in the extreme south-eastern coastal area and in the eastern escarpment riverine and evergreen forests. They are either solitary or found in small groups. These birds are vocal in response to other bird’s calls and fly on rounded wings, gliding and landing in the centre of trees. They eat fruit, insects and earthworms.
